Good article! This isn’t really a “crypto” issue, though. It comes down to the overall lower number of women in nearly all sectors of software work.
Women ARE underrepresented in software, but the talent pool is smaller.
I’ve worked in software for the past 15 years, and have hired for many jobs, and almost across the board (programming, graphics, web design, etc.) you receive about 1/6th the number of female candidates as male candidates.
Luckily, I’ve never been a part of an organization that exhibits such a misogynistic culture as some mentioned in this article.
A couple solutions include 1) Parents encouraging all of their children, female and male, equally when it comes to choices of vocation, and 2) More community and school STEM clubs & programs that are “targeted” to girls.
