Excellent advice, Therese Stowell! I would add that all product managers involved in a new project should review a wide variety of frameworks and use that insight, along with the specific business and customer needs of the new product, to synthesize a unique framework that fits that product. One of a PM’s biggest value-adds to an organization is that they act not only as a cross-functional “hub”, but also as knowledge base and the compass that points “true north” — toward the combined goal of satisfying both users and the business. You are relied on to gather and bring together a lot of ideas, and sometimes they might be at odds (but that’s another story).
